Mumble setup

Mumble is a free online voice-chat tool that uses very few data and works not bad also in poor conditions. You can either install the programm on your device (computer or smart-phone) or use the web-interface.

You can use the web-interface without installing any programm. However, we expierienced that it was not working in several cases. https://mumble.rankenste.in/ In the window that comes up, for "Token" and "password" you can enter whatever you want or leave it empty.

When using mumble '''it is best to wear headphones''', so that there are no echoes created while other users talk (due to your microphone getting a delayed feedback from your speakers).

Mumble is a simple tool but it's a bit tricky to set it up for the first time. Here is a step-by-step guide for setting up mumble on a computer. If you have an Android smartphone, you can try using Plumble – a mumble port which is easy to set up. You can get it on [https://f-droid.org/packages/com.morlunk.mumbleclient/ F-Droid] or [https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.morlunk.mumbleclient.free&hl=en Play store (free version)]. Also for Apple devices you can find an app in [https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/mumble/id443472808 itunes].

First you set up the audio settings. The bars with the volume look a bit confusing and echoes make a lot of noise, but if you read carefully through the texts, it's not so complicated in the end.

In the first window it should be like in the picture above.

After you are done with the audio settings, you need to connect to the private biketour server.

The important boxes are Address and Username (put here whatever you like). The port number should be given automatically.

Another way to get rid of echoes is to assign a shortcut to a key on your keyboard in the Shortcuts tab for Push to Talk (you can use for example the left control key). After this your microphone will be listening only when you push and hold the key you assigned to it.

"ecotopia-old" is an archive of planning information from previous years of the biketour.

To add a file on to the Cloud, find a relevant folder you want to put the content in to. Then click the cross near the top of the screen. Here you can upload a file and create a new folder.

(This is a setup guide for computer users. If you have an Android smartphone, you can try using Plumble – a mumble port which is easy to set up. There is also the option to use the browser-interface without installing any programm. Although it was not working very well often. https://mumble.rankenste.in/

Mumble is a simple tool but it's a bit tricky to set it up for the first time. Here is a step-by-step guide for setting up mumble.

First you set up the audio settings. The bars with the volume look a bit confusing and echoes make a lot of noise, but if you read carefully through the texts, it's not so complicated in the end.

Another way to get rid of echoes is to assign a shortcut to a key on your keyboard in the Shortcuts tab for Push to Talk (you can use for example the left control key). After this your microphone will be listening only when you push and hold the key you assigned to it.

you can change information or the type of the line and its thickness in "edit"

The style of the map can be changed in the menu under "map style" For example the OpenCycleMap and the OpenTopoMap are good to see the mountains and maybe the Hike&BikeMap is good for seeing the roads. Sometimes one layer doesn't work, then you can choose another one. If you need to look at the satelite picture or Street-view you can directly go in the very bottom of "map style" to another online map.
You can switch on and off marker types and routes by clicking on their name in the list of markertypes on the right side. (it only appears if you have no marker details open)
If you access through the admin-link, there is also the option to change or add the marker-types if you feel like something is missing or should be different.

Luhukasu: still totally outdated

You can access the results of the filled form in the Worpress-Backend if you have admin rights on your account. Its under Contact Form DB.

This plugin helps making forms to interact with website users, it's an alternative to wufoo.com (the service that was being used on last biketours, before 2012)

It's used on the Contact page, the registration and as a hack to bypass https untrusted conection to eyfa's mailling list subscribe

User:Taborda tested it on version 2.3.1 and used it with some other plugins

You can edit the diferent forms on the WP backoffice "Contact" menu, the forms are built on html mixed with an easy CF7 tag syntax.

adds a datepicker to the registration form

for the next years, don't forget to change the start day on the plugin settings

it has a problem with the url linking to an non-existing directory...

**But mainly used during 2007, with some tweaking, to allow multi-person delivery of SMS's while on the road (logistical coordination).
**In 2008 it was also used as a way of updating a blog, from the SMS sent while riding.
**Also in 2008, after the tour, Twitter stopped delivering SMS' to non-US mobiles... Therefore most of its initial use as a tool was lost.
