eMail service

Purpose: Ensure communication from "outside" and "within" the Biketour collective. Currently: mostly Gmail - from before they turned evil :( Preferences: Something we can keep our lovely name@ecotopiabiketour addresses with"

Known Alternatives:

  • Round-cube
  • Squirrel Mail
  • Riseup
  • Thunderbird

Website

  • Purpose: Inform the world about us and publicise what we generally do/think/want others to know.

(Currently: wordpress-based, privately hosted website through the very cool Ecobytes :) )

Voice over IP

  • Purpose: Voice and or video meetings:

(Currently: mostly private Skype accounts)

Collaborative working on texts / documents / archive

  • Purpose: Getting organised / handover / archive / storage (so far: mediawiki wiki).

collaborative mapping

    • a typical example how big corporations (mis-)use open source data for their own purposes: mapquest is a company of AOL.

file hosting / file sharing

  • Purpose: Anyone being able to easily provide larger files for exchange (photos, maps, ...) which are too big for mailing lists and might not interest everyone on a list.

social networking sites

  • Purpose: Is there really a purpose? ;) Or maybe: all of the above?

micro blogging

  • Purpose: Is there really a purpose? ;)

web > tel : bridging

  • Purpose: cheap way of providing (short) info (sms style) to global phone networks from the web (for example when we are on the road or others are on the road to join us).

more?

  • Purpose: ...
